Welcome to the Life Reimagined Challenge

a crash course in Psychological Flexibility

For decades now, I have been working with my individual therapy clients using a powerful, research-backed approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).  ACT is built around a set of six simple, powerful skills that unlock one profound ability: psychological flexibility.  High psychological flexibility is associated with greater emotional balance, stronger relationships, better physical health, and a deeper sense of purpose and vitality in daily life. When it’s high, you can face challenges with greater steadiness, creativity, and choice — even when life is hard.

The exciting part, ACT isn’t just for people facing clinical struggles. It has proven useful for just about anyone who wants to show up more fully, live with greater purpose, and handle challenges with more grace and flexibility. The problem is, most people have never had the chance to learn all six of these skills, let alone master them. But this is a specific framework, and it can be taught. You can learn it.

I am excited to finally be teaching these skills outside of the therapy office, so that you too can benefit from what I've learned and taught hundreds of others over these past decades.

To help you get the most out of our brief time together:

What you need to do:

  • Watch the daily videos, and read the lessons. The first step in change is learning the new skills.
  • Reflect or journal on what stood out and how it applies to your life. The more you engage with the material, the more deeply you'll absorb the learning, and the more useful it will be to you.
  • Join the live Q&A sessions (or submit questions and watch replays).  This is a great chance to clarify and deepen what you are learning through live interaction with me.
  • Try the “life experiment” challenges that help you put new ideas into practice. This learning will only "matter" if you bring it into your actual daily life.
  • If you’d like, connect inside the community — share discoveries, celebrate wins, or find an accountability partner to help you continue your progress after the challenge is over. I hope there will be many people choosing to interact in the community, that will add to the richness of the experience. But at the very least, I will be there!
  • Approach each day with curiosity and an open mind — that’s how new learning becomes possible.

Since this Challenge aims at quickly getting you unstuck and moving in a new life direction, plan on setting aside approximately two to three hours each Challenge day for the lessons, reflection, Q & A, and life experiments. That concentrated time is part of how you begin turning these ideas into skills you can use in your actual life. You will continue to have access to all the materials for one week afterward, giving you time to finish or revisit anything you need.

What you walk away with:

You will have learned valuable strategies to:

  • Stay more present and engaged in the moment- when with your loved ones, or working on an important  project...

  • Focus on your values and goals rather than getting lost in painful thoughts and emotions.

  • Use acceptance, self-compassion, and mindfulness to navigate challenges with more ease.

  • Quit procrastinating and instead take effective, values-based action that enriches your life in meaningful ways.

With ongoing practice, and as these skills become second nature, you’ll start to feel steadier, more present, and more connected to what matters most. You will find it easier to take meaningful action in your life, and that will start to open up new possibilities for your future.

Life is an uncertain adventure, the psychological flexibility skills you learn in the Challenge will help you navigate your journey with greater ease and satisfaction (even when the going is tough- which it often is!)

Post script: The Sacred Dojo Membership Bonus

Learning the skills of psychological flexibility is a huge and invaluable first step in transforming your life, but without continued practice, simply "knowing" the skills won't really help you much. We all have had instances when we "knew" what we needed to do, but still didn't do it...  Repeated practice, however, helps take that intellectual knowledge and turn it into something deeper and more habitual, something that you can really count on in your moments of need.

It's much easier to practice skills when you have ongoing supportive structure and social support available to you. Some people are lucky enough to have that structure and support already with their friends and family in their daily lives. Others get it from therapy or coaching sessions. The Sacred Dojo Membership is simply another option, one that provides 24/7 structure and support to help you practice the skills you learned in the Challenge, as well as a place where you can learn more skills and deepen those as well. It is called the Sacred Dojo because it is meant to be a place of practice (a dojo), focusing on that which is sacred (most meaningful) to you.

To help you get more out of the Challenge, I have included a FREE week in the Sacred Dojo Membership, immediately following the end of the Challenge. If you decide to continue in the Membership, you will be given the opportunity of signing up at a special discounted rate, in thanks for being part of the very first Life Reimagined Challenge!
